The first day of school sneaks up on us every year. Each August I see all the ads for back to school materials and I think “WOW! Are the kids really going back already?”

As parents, we take hundreds of photos every year. We capture first-day outfits, missing teeth, and those nervous smiles standing on the front porch. One minute you're buying fresh crayons and sharpening pencils, and the next you're wondering how your little one is already another year older.

One of the sweetest things to preserve isn't a picture at all sometime.It's their words, a glimpse into their innocent minds. Nothing is as sweet or cute as a child's honest response to these questions. Children change so quickly. Their favorite food becomes something different. The dream job they were absolutely certain about last year suddenly changes from veterinarian to astronaut... or construction worker... or dinosaur trainer.
